Planning approval has been obtained for 5 new dwelling houses in this unique wooded setting on the outskirts of Banchory. The proposed dwellings at Woodend of Glassel are placed within the existing mature trees on the site and utilise a simple palette of traditional materials, including; home-grown timber, natural slate, pale wet dash render and drystone walling.
Each house is individually designed to take advantage of the views ans benefit from solar gain, while still reading as a whole through the material palette and forms. The new a small scale development of homes will create a real sense of place. The dwellings are highly insulated and sustainable with renewable heating systems, supplemented by a woodburning stove within each building.
