AKA was established by Annie Kenyon and is based in rural Aberdeenshire. The practice carries out design-led conservation, restoration, conversion and new-build projects with a strong emphasis on sustainability. The practice endeavours to use locally sourced traditional and salvaged materials whenever possible and promotes the use of renewable energy systems in both new build and restoration projects. Existing redundant rural architecture can be put to re-use for residential or commercial purposes through sensitive conversion based on a sound understanding of traditional materials.
